Apprentice Program
Each BBU training module has its own specified amount of training hours (personal sessions, observation hours and student teaching hours) required before the student can apply to test out for certification. Here is an overview of what those hours are all about.
Personal Sessions
Personal sessions are hours where the student is taking a Pilates lesson with an instructor. Students can count any classes or Pilates personal training sessions they take with a Pilates instructor. Developing and committing to a personal Pilates practice is an essential part of becoming an effective and inspiring teaching.
Observation Hours
Observation hours include watching experienced instructors teach group classes or private sessions. Observation is a great way to understand verbal and manual cueing, program sequencing and application of modifications and variations to specific clients.
Student Teaching Hours
Teaching hours include any Pilates teaching either as an employee at a fitness center, at a Pilates Studio or for family and friends at home. This time should be used to practice teaching the material learned in the module.
Personalized Pilates' Apprentice Program
Students have the option of doing their personal sessions, observation and student teaching hours at Personalized Pilates studio or at other facilities. In order to be a part of Personalized Pilates' Apprentice Program there is an application process as well as an additional fee. All students involved in the Personalized Pilates Apprentice program must have their own liability insurance, which is available through IDEA, before they can start to work on their hours.
Personalized Pilates' Apprentice Program is a unique blend of opportunities to complete the required training hours in a supervised setting with additional learning experiences that cannot be attained anywhere else. Additional information and applications will be given out at the training modules or by contacting Katrina directly.
