Other WorkshopsPilates with the Bosu Balance Trainer This workshop is an in-depth look at how to integrate the Bosu Balance Trainer into traditional Pilates work. We will cover a variety of Pilates exercises using the Bosu instead of the traditional Pilates equipment or as a challenge for classical Pilates mat exercises. This will add a whole new component of balance to your Pilates! We will explore how to incorporate this prop into a traditional Pilates exercise program, whether mat or equipment, and transform the roller into a tool to be used to release myofascial tension spots. We will also cover some exercises that are exclusive to these props. This workshop will teach you the classical exercises, the theory behind the exercises and the history behind the equipment. We will also go over as some adaptations that are able to be used if you don't have a particular piece of equipment. We will start with a questionnaire to discover where your individual weak spots are in your Pilates teaching. Then we will cover how to study for these specific areas as well as having fabulous study tools for you to access. If you cannot convey the exercise or concept to the client, they will never be able to accomplish what you want for them. We will discuss a variety of communication techniques and styles as well as how to utilize them to specifically teach Pilates. Often called the “milk & cookies” at the end of a Pilates equipment session, assisted stretching will keep your clients coming back for more. This workshop will cover various topics such as different types of stretching, proper hand placement, breath and timing, and target area treatments. We will equip instructors on how to avoid common pitfalls, stay safe and create amazing classes. The techniques that we will discuss will be able to be adapted for use on any piece of Pilates equipment and specific examples will be given. We will cover in depth how to design a class that flows as well as how to level classes in order to best reach each client's needs and goals. $ 100 tuition - or less with the bulk workshop rate Course Dates: tba Anatomy of the Rotator Cuff Shoulders are often very confusing and misunderstood. Come and learn the specifics of the anatomy in this area and how this directly applies to the Pilates exercises. You will come away from this class with a clear understanding of the biomechanics of the shoulder and how to work with your clients that have poor shoulder mechanics (shoulders in their ears, rounded forward shoulders, etc.). We will discuss how to teach clients proper movement patterns with problem feet, hands and necks so that they will be able move into the more difficult Pilates work. We will cover traditional Pilates exercises as well as creative Pilates adaptations that specifically address these areas. In this innovative workshop Katrina will show and discuss two completely different ways to incorporate this approach as well as ways to use it on different pieces of equipment. After completing the workshop, each instructor will be able to tailor these ideas to their own style of teaching and studio set up. We will apply these methods to a multitude of different situations so that you will be able to expand your classes without adding more equipment. $ 100 tuition - or less with the bulk workshop rate Course Dates: tba Pregnancy Program Design Pilates is fabulous for pregnant clients but there are very specific protocols that you must know in order to keep the client and their baby safe. We will demystify these protocols and leave you with a clear understanding of what is appropriate for the pregnant client. We will take it even further and practically apply this to the Pilates repertoire by designing safe and fun workouts for this special time.
